Joseph – What Christianity is.

Today’s Capsule is a about what Christianity is verses what we see in America today.

Christianity today is not:

-          Hording up resources and planning a future for yourself and your family.

-          Measured tithes or giving out of abundance, especially to make yourself feel good or to tick boxes.

-          It is not a New Years resolution that if you fail by Feb. then it’s no big deal.

-          The division of God’s Church on Sunday via race especially when we are all gentiles.

-          Happiness in life and praying for God to extend your happiness (Thinking God would love for you to be Happy)

-          When receiving trials and turmoil—we groan and moan for God to relieve us from our turmoil. We don’t pray that God walks us through it, only that He take it away.

-          Health and Wellness and feel-good preaching, misleading the masses

-          Is not Church on Sunday and doing churchy things like groups, classes and Saturday chicken sales.

-          Doing everything right on Sunday but neglecting doing it during the week: At work, school, activities etc...

-          Christianity is not one minute being Hot for God and then decide to tone it back down to lukewarm because it doesn’t feel right.

-          Being lazy when reading the Bible here and there, once in a while but think that going to church will pick up the slack.  Complaining that reading it is difficult or that we don’t like to read; especially with the same eyes we are ready smaller text of social media on our phone.

Now let me tell you what Christianity looks like via an often-unused example from the Bible.

Joseph in Genesis chapter 37 is where this story comes from.

Joseph was brought in from slavery by Potiphar, Captain of Pharoah’s Guard.

Joseph was eventually made an overseer of all things in Potiphar’s house.

However, Joseph’s good looks made him a target for Potiphar’s wife.

Now, why was his master’s wife trying to sleep with Joseph, maybe Potiphar wasn’t around much or maybe he didn’t do his husband’s duties enough, such things drive people to seek relations elsewhere especially when you look as good as Joseph did.  

Whatever the reason, it really doesn’t matter.  She wanted Joseph Day after day.

This is where Christianity shows itself.  

Joseph did have to resist her one day or one time.  This was a constant pursuit.

In this day and age of Pasters, preachers and even Christians in general go down by this temptation .
