Today’s Capsule is a New Years Hot Mic
I pray for everyone listening, to have a Great New Year!
I want to concentrate on Forgiveness then I will give you status update on existing and upcoming things.
It seems that the Lord has been wanting me to focus on true forgiveness. Many of us have issues with this. People who have wronged us or continue to hate or wrong us don’t sit very well with us.
Recently, we can look at the New Orleans terrorist attack on New Years.
I have people in my life that I struggle to put on the forgiveness shelf, In my mind, they either don’t deserve it or they seem to want me to engage and hate back. As a black person living in the south with white family members, I struggle with this. Ex-relatives act like monsters. So forgiveness is often a far-off thought, sometimes not existing as thought at all.
Oftentimes your first response to someone who hurts us is to engage or flee. But if these things are done and left unchecked, we can fall into a state of bitterness. Bitterness can destroy our soul. Yes, unforgiveness leads to bitterness, bitterness leads to hate and hate leads to suffering; for all parties involved. Ultimately, unforgiveness hangs on our neck like a anvil necklace, after a while it will wears us down.
So, the bible talks about forgiveness, and not forgive people because Christ forgave us, but also recognizing that God is looking out for us and doesn’t want us beaten down by consequences of unforgiveness. God always has our best interest at heart. We need to trust in that, I need to trust in that and move to a state of forgiveness and letting go. Because that is the totality of forgiveness. Its not just saying I forgive, it’s also letting the wrong go and giving it to God. Just imagine a world where everyone can truly forgive.
Remember what Jesus said on the cross:
Luke 23:34 says: 34 [But Jesus was saying, “Father, forgive them; for they do not know what they are doing.”
If Jesus can pray that on our behalf and he was sinless, we who always sin can do that for other sinners like us.
Let this be your New Years resolution if your inclined to have one.
